The social and psychological problems of the educators in department of Geography College of Education . Basrah University

Abstract

This Paper aims at investigating the problems that student in the Dept. of Geography / college of Education / University of Basrah face and the necessary guiding service that they should be provided with . The sample of the study is made up of (126) male and female students of the department under study . To achieve the aims of the study , the researcher distributed a questionnaire (that was proved to be valid and consistent) and conducted the statistical procedures of percentage , means , coefficient deviation , person correlation factor , T-test of the population and the sample , variation means and weight. The results results revealed that the students have psychological problems such as their unwillingness to take part in dialogues , to sit on the front seats in the classrooms and to be in the student club in the college . Socially , they do not like to take part in trips, to exchange fun with others and to take part in library activities . Also, the syllabuses lock the modern educational methods and are confined only to the way of lecturing on the side of the faculty member and copying these lectures on the side of the student. The syllabuses are either long or short . In their relation to their faculty members and the head of the department , the administration is always biased to the faculty member in case of any dispute between a student and that member . Some faculty member are also unable to clarify or convey the material to the students. Some faculty members only concentrate on same students and neglect the others inside the classroom. Finally the researcher presented some recommendations to solve the problems.
