The Relationship between Critical and Creative Thinking of the Preparatory Female Students

Abstract

Objective of this research to measure the level of critical thinking and creative thinking among middle school students in the province of Basrah, it also aimed to find out the relationship between critical and creative thinking in middle school students, and to identify the relationship between critical and creative thinking depending on the grade variable (Fourth - Fifth - Sixth) and the branch study variable (scientific - literary),the research included (400) female students preparatory stage random sample was selected as statistical analysis sample, and (400) female students from the preparatory stage stratified random sample of research, the research adopted on the following tools:- Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA-FS).- Torrance Test of Creative Thinking. Has been verified of Factorial and Factorial Validity for Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking test and Torrance Test of Creative Thinking,As reliability has been extracted of Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking test and Torrance Test of Creative Thinking by Split half, Kuder-Richardson 20 and Cronbach's alpha method,for the purpose of statistical data processing researcher used Pearson correlation coefficient, the equation of Spearman – Brown, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, Kuder-Richardson 20, Scheffe method for multiple comparisons, Chi square, T-test for one sample and society, Z-testing, ANOVA and Factorial analysis, The results showed that the degree of critical thinking and the degree of creative thinking among middle school female students fall within the acceptable average level educationally, and there is a positive relationship between critical thinking and creative thinking among individuals of the research sample, as the results show a correlation between critical thinking and creative thinking and all of the stage of study and area of study for the benefit of the scientific branch.
