Abbreviation by negation and exception in Najul-Balaghjah, a semantic study.

Abstract

Abbreviation with negation and exception is one of the rhetorical styles by which the speaker get its his aims of denial, the attitudes that resemble denial and the undefined for the receiver.This research starts the preface which gives the definition of exception for grammarians and rhetoricians and the ways to achieve abbreviation by negation and exception. The research shows that abbreviation consists of two main elements:- negation and exception as well as negation significances, as negation in the Arabic language has many significances according to the used tools.This preface is followed by two topics devoted to the nominal sentence and the verbal sentence where each has different significances according to the different situations applying them to the examples taken from Nahjul-Balaghah.The research concludes a number of results such as :- negation and exception is the most common style, the researchers believe that the reason is the Imam mostly be in attitudes that involved him to prohibit things that contradict with principles of Shari`a calling for the worshipers` benefits. Moreover, most of the examples are of monotheism restricting worshiping to His Almighty God, where negation and exception is of powerful styles that can express these significances, followed by ( Inema ), as Al- Jurjani believes it gives the meaning of negation and exception, and hysteron and proteron which exists with distinguish stylistic feature. There is no abbreviation with conjunction tools as it does not harmonize with the Imam speech method.
