Detection of microbial contamination in herbal slimming available in local markets

Abstract

This study included the investigation of microbial contamination for some slimming herbs available in our local markets which demand has increased in recent times. (12) sample were randomly collected from herbs and from some pharmacies in different parts of Baghdad. Results were obtained from biological tests , which included examination of the total aerobic bacteria count, total coliform bacteria count, also examine fecal coliform E. coli and total staphylococcus bacteria count, finally total count of Mold and Yeast. A significant difference ( 0.05 >p ) were shown for all samples, as well as all dilutions studied except third dilution of total coliform count and second and third dilution of fecal coliform that showing no significant differences NS in studied samples.
