Abstract

To identify efficiency targeted application of this program tow genotypes from popcorn local variety Al- SAFA and Argentina variety AGR-5, Reciprocal Recurring selection (RRS) and S2- progeny to raise the efficiency of performance of plant populations. Using local variety popcorn Safa and Argentina variety AGR- 5. The reciprocal recurrent selection was applied for four consecutive season on farm of the Dept.of Crops Sci./Collegof Agric./Univ.of Baghdad. In the spring season 2013 was obtained 100 top crosses from each variety and 100 progeny represent S1. In full season 2013 the top crosses compared in partial lattice design 10 x 10 in two replication. At the end of the season the top crosses were harvested and a self pollination on S1plants to production S2. The total number population 12. six represent first cycle frome RRS and another six represent S2- progeny. In the spring season 2014 was mixing 300 seed from S1 genotyp and S2 – progeny. In spring 2014 conducted a random hybridization for the best 30 plant for each population. In full 2014 experiment was carried out to compared 12 genorypes in addition origin varieties in factorial experiment using RCBD design with four replication in three plant density. Studied row number and number of kernel per row and number of kernel per plant and yield plant gm. The result exhibit significant deference's for all traits . Genotype 2 revealed highest row number(15.81) and kernel per pant(781.55) and yield plant gm(135.73) .The genotype 9 exhibit highest row (16.43) and number kernel per row (41.65). The genotypes 5&10&12 revealed highest expansion popping (1077,1025,1021ml gm-1).broad sense heritability was high for row number, kernel per row and yield plant (60.11%,79.18% 52.79%) respectively and high genetic advance. This traits under additive gene and possible improve this traits through selection. The traits number kernel per pant and expansion popping low heritability 45.44%and 26.91% coupled with low genetic advance. This traits under Non- additive gen and possible to improve these traits through hybridization flowed by selection
