Psychological pressures Among University Youth and Their Relationship with Some Variables (An Empirical Study)

Abstract

The study aims to identify the psychological pressures experienced by university youth, also seeks to identify the psychological pressures ascribed to the sex variable (male, female) and the specialization variable (scientific, humanist) in an applied study conducted on a sample of 4th year students of Baghdad University (College of Education Ibn Al-Rushd, and College of Science) through constructing a scale of psychological pressure designed by the researcher, where the number of paragraphs reached (20) and the psychometric properties (sincerity, reliability and discrimination) of the sample have been verified, As well as the use of appropriate statistical methods on the research sample which consist of 200 students (100 males and 100 females), the researcher adopted the descriptive approach to study, being commensurate with the objectives of the study. After processing the data statistically the study showed a set of results where the most prominent are significant statistical differences which indicate that the sample suffer from psychological pressures, and there are significant statistical differences in accordance with the variable sex (male, female) in favor of males, and there are significant statistical differences according to variable specialization (scientific, humanist) in favor of humanist, the research findings and conclusions showed a set of recommendations and suggestions.
