Assessing the Performance of Secondary School Students' in Learning Reading Comprehension Communicatively
Abstract
This study aims at assessing the performance of the secondary school students in reading comprehension skill in the series of English for Iraq. Two hypotheses are formulated in order to achieve this aim the first one: it is hypothesized that students have the ability to practice reading comprehension communicatively, in other words, the achievement of the students is good in reading comprehension skill. The second hypothesis is: there is a significant difference between male and female students in reading comprehension. A sample of thirty male and female sixth class students is randomly chosen /literary branch /Saladin Province during the academic year 2015 /2016. An achievement test of three reading passages is constructed and applied after a pilot administration . T-test and percentage are used to analyze data; finally drawing of conclusions and formulating recommendations are presented.
