The Assessment of the Staff Members` Performance in the Light of Teaching Quality Criteria

Abstract

This study aims to specify the criteria of education quality of the teaching staff of the department of history in the college of basic education and assess their performance within the scope of these criteria.The results were as follow:1-The achieved items were 13 and this constitutes 43,33 % from the total average of the items of the observance form; whereas the unachieved items were 17 and this constitutes 56,67 % from the total average of the same form.2-The performance of the teaching staff was acceptable concerning the (personal characteristics). Taking the criteria of (designing and planning the teaching situations), (assessment) and (strategies and techniques of teaching), the performance of the teaching staff was weak in general. The study reached to the following conclusions:1-Weak propagation of the cultivation of the teaching quality in the College of Basic Education/ University of Diyala.2-Weak interest of the teaching staff concerning the use of modern teaching strategies like (cooperative teaching, problem-solving, and teaching based o problems, etc.).This study recommends the following:1-To publish the cultivation of teaching quality through assuring the teaching staff of using it.2-Providing the teaching staff with the criteria of teaching quality used in this their performance spontaneously.3-Training the teaching staff to use the modern techniques and strategies of teaching through workshops and training courses.
