إقليم الجزيرة في خلافة عبد الله بن الزبير (64-73هـ/683- 692م)

Abstract

The Jazira region was one of the most important regions of the Islamic country, and this area was of strategic position since antiquity. In the region of Abdullah Bin Al-Zubayr (64-73H/683-692 A. D), changes occurred in it which reflected on all other regions of the country. That changes were not collected in a book or a research. The information about them is slight and isolated in the books, and obtaining that needs studying and analyzing. This research contains an introduction, major sections, and a conclusion. The sections concern with the borders of the region; the choosing of Abdullah Bin Al-Zubayr and the control of Aljazira by his supporters; the movements of opposition and their activities starting with forgiving (Twabeen) movement till movement of Zufar Bin Al-Harith. The Omayd caliph Abdulmalek, himself, led the campaign against Zufar’s movement. After the submission of Iraq to Abdulmalek, the latter planed to defeat Abdullah Bin Al-Zubayr in Al-Hujaz. That is because of the importance of the Al-Jazira region to the Omayed reign. The control of it by the Omayeds opens for them the way to defeat Abdullah Bin Al-Zubayr and to unite the reign of country
