The Leading Role of sheikh Mohammad Taqi Al- shirazi Al- Hari in Iraqi Revolution 1920.

Abstract

Sheikh Mohammad Taqi Al- shirazi had a significant role in the 1920 Revolution , in the consensus opinions of most national figures of Iraq even the British themselves . The period immediately before the revolution witnessed contacts and correspondences between him and the local figures and the chiefs of Al- Hijaz for the preparations of the revolution . An important meeting was held in Karbala in 4 may 1920 and attended by a number of sheikhs of the south and middle Euphrates . They disused in it the issue of the armed revolution against the British . Some people believed that Al- shirazi had allowed for the revolution in the meeting . Different factors were behind protesting against the British , hence , the revolution : prosecution , repression , and arresting the leading figures of the national movement , including Mohammad Ridha Al- shirazi However k sheikh Mohammad Taqi Al- shirazi had supported that revolution on its different aspects ( political , social , and organizational ) till his death in 18 August 1920
