Study of 1st And 2nd Stages Students-Agricultural Extension Department - collage of Agriculture science - sulaymani University/ Attitudes toward Agricultural Sciences and Its Relationship with Some Variables

Abstract

This research aimed at identifying the study of 1st and 2nd stages in the agricultural extension department - collage of agriculture science students attitudes in sulaymani university towards agricultural sciences and its relationship with some variables. The sample of research consisted of 124 students out of 144 students in the agricultural extension department - collage of agriculture science excluding surveying ransoms which consisted 20 students. The questionnaire consists of two parts. The first one included general information concerning independents variables, second included a scale to measure the attitudes of the students which was constricted by likert scale for building scale. The data were collected by personal interviews with the respondents. In order to analyze data gathered many statistical means were employed; percentage, arithmetic means, standard deviation, t -test, persons-correlation. The study results showed that the vast majority of respondents attitudes were neutral toward negative about the agriculture sciences, regarding the personal and functional variables results showed that: 50% of respondents aged between (20-21 years), more than half of respondents are male they have accounted 54%, and 54.04% of them in the second stage of study. The majority of the respondents housed in the villages where their percentage amounted 58.01%, with regard variable choice of respondents for the collage it shows that the majority of them grades rate is main reason for choosing the collage of agriculture, where their percentage amounted 94%. And 61.29% of respondents have a farm background. The results also showed signification relationship in attitudes according to :( stage of study, current housing and farm background variables (, while there are no significant relationship in attitudes according to variables; (age, sex, and choice of respondents for collage). On the basis of above finding, the following recommendations and suggestions can be listed:1.Making efforts in order to inculcate positive attitudes in students behavior generally and students of the first and second stages especially toward agricultural science, and work in order to provide a suitable study environment them to increase their love for profession of agriculture during and after graduation.2.Re-considering the instructions which the central acceptance of agricultural college and institutes system which is currently applied by the ministry of higher education and scientific research in kurdistan region in iraq, in which affection are considered and taken in to account the desires of students beside the grading rate and the current of housing to cemented the educational process in collage of agricultural sciences.3.Reconsidering of teaching curriculum for agricultural science generally and agricultural extension department to reflect a modern innovations and which that could contribute in achieving desired goals of teaching and learning processes within those institutions.4.Currying out such studies aiming at identifying the other variable affecting attitudes students to agricultural science for the rest stages of study and other departments of the same faculty or in other faculty of agricultural sciences in the kurdistan region.
