Les ressorts de lʹinspiration poétique dans les poèmes de Paul Éluard (1895-1952)

Abstract

Paul Eluard is one of the most distinguished poets in the twentieth century. He is the poet of love, and the poet of the French resistance against the Nazi's occupation. He appeared during the age emerging different trends in literature and art. At his time the surrealism was the most notable trend but he was distinguished with his poetic style. The present study which entitled "Les ressorts de l'inspiration poetique dans les poemes de Paul Eluard(1895-1952)" "The Circumstances of the Poetic Inspiration in Paul Eluard's Poems" deals with the conditions behind his poetic creativity especially for those poems he writes to his three wives who toke part of his literary and political life. His literary production is divided into three stages each stage is related to one of his wives: Gala, Nush, and Dominique. These three wives are considered his muse. The research focuses on his role in the struggle against the Nazi's occupation to France especially his poem (Freedom) and his international role in poetry and politics. Poetry, according to Eluard, takes personal, public, and humanistic dimensions as a result to social and ideological factors and his poetry goes beyond the limits of expressing his personal concerns to be global concerns.
