Translating Morpho-Lexical Deviation in the Glorious

Abstract

The current study aims at scrutinizing the forms of deviation in the Glorious Quran viz. the morphological and lexical deviation, and how to be translated into English. It is hypothesized that sensitive texts cannot be translated into other languages without losing some of their holy value due to culture specificity. To avoid loss of meaning, and to convey the message as faithful as possible, explication is inevitable since the Quranic discourse is inimitable, as is the case with the deviation. To verify the above-mentioned hypothesis, six ayas encompassing morpho-lexical deviation and their English translations have been discussed. This is followed by a suggested translation if required. The study concludes that lack of intervention (explication) results in unfaithful translation. Consequently, this means that explication is an evitable solution for such phenomenon
