DRUG CRIMES COMPARATIVE LEGAL STUDY

Abstract

Drug crimes receiving all the attention of the world as crimes that threaten society as a whole because of their negative effects on the social and economic level, health and humanitarian.which requires the Protection of Human Resources of the State as the most important pillar of the state (the people) need to stop the phenomenon of narcotic drugs and other illegal psychotropic substancesThe legislation comes in the forefront of ways face the phenomenon of the spread of illegal drugs in the community with its various socially dimensions , economically and security.Iraqi legislature began to enter the fight against drugs, since early last century has been issued at the time of the monarchy in Iraq Prevention Act cultivation of Indian hemp hashish and opium poppy No. 12 for the year 1933 and the Dangerous Drugs Act and narcotic No. 44 for the year 1938 , so as to prevent the import of cannabis and opium poppy and also prevents the cultivation and imposes penalties on anyone who violates the provisions of the law.Iraqi legislation has evolved against drugs, in line with international treaties to control of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, issuing the current law No. 68 of 1965 as amended.the drug law is a branch of the Iraqi criminal law which recognizes three types of crimes which are : felonies, misdemeanors and infractions.
