The degree of the use of educational diploma students at Umm Al Qura

Abstract

This study aimed to know how much does the educational diploma female students in Umm Alqura University use the Saudi Digital Library, their attitudes towards it, and the obstacles of using it. The sample of the study consisted of (159) female students of educational diploma in the university college in Qunfutha / Umm Al Qura University. The researcher used the survey descriptive method by using a questionnaire as data collection method for the purpose of the study. Results showed that total answers regarding using the Saudi digital library scored a mean of (2.53) with a weak degree of use. This indicates that students of educational diploma in Umm Alqura university rarely use the Saudi digital library. As for the attitude towards using the Saudi digital library, it scored a mean of (3.43) with high degree of agreement, which indicates that student’s attitudes were positive and of high degree, although their degree of using were not high. Results also showed that mean of total items in obstacles related to using the Saudi digital library was (2.85) with moderate degree of agreement. Therefore, all items which had moderate or high degrees of agreement represent the obstacles and difficulties that face educational diploma students in Umm Alqura university while using Saudi digital library. The study provided a set of recommendations, such as: reducing the material and technical obstacles which limit the use of Saudi digital library, and training the students on using the Saudi digital library.
