Hematological Changes in adolescents, pregnant women in third trimester, women during delivery and their newborn.

Abstract

The study included 360 samples collected during the period betweenOctober 2005 to March 2006. They were divided into four main groups namely;adolescents, pregnant women in third trimester, women during delivery andtheir newborn. Each group consisted of 90 subjects. It was carried out todetermine the hematological variables using the routine examination methodsThe following results were obtained :There was a decrease in the level of hemoglobin in pregnant womenand delivery women but increased in newborn .There was a decrease in the total white blood cells among adolescentsand delivery women .The neutrophils level was the highest but it was at thelowest level in pregnant women and delivery women .The highest ratios of reticulocytes counts were among newborn whilethe lowest ratios were among adolescents.Platelets rates significantly decreased in the two groups of pregnantwomen in comparison with adolescents and new born.We conclude that the hematological examinations results were variesaccording to the physiological conditions of each group.
