Factors structure and the psychometric characteristics of depression, anxiety, and stress scale (DASS-21) in Saudi environment

Abstract

The current study aimed to check the factor structure and the psychometric characteristics for the dimensions of depression, anxiety and stress scale DASS-21. The first dimension depression contains 7 item, the second depression anxiety contains 7 item and the third one stress contains 7 item. the values of the scale paragraphs correlation factor (DASS) wholly wear statistically significant in the level (0.01), this indicates that the scale(DASS) is internally coherent and the reliability factor for the whole scale (DASS- 21) was (0.94) by using Cronbach’s Alpha factor.Split half Reliability factor (0.87), Guttman Reliability factor (0.86), The study sample was (202) from nursing staff in the King Fahd Medical City and the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh. the Confirmatory Factor Analysis was carried out using statistical programSimplified Arabic. (Muthén & Mplus version (8.1) (Muthén & Muthén, 2015). the results of the study have indicated that the evidences show that the scale is fit and suitable for the Saudi environment, similar to the original environment in Australia.
