Optimal Distribution of Green Areas Using GIS - Samawah City as Case Study

Abstract

Green land is an important use in the urban city as it is an entertainment aspect, and one of the complementary aesthetic aspects of cities. As green lands are no longer just secondary needs that come later as they were seen previously, they have become an important part of the requirements of the population and their lives, especially urban residents. The demand for these services increases with the improvement of economic conditions and high levels of living for the population, so it can be considered one of the important indicators to judge the extent of civilization Cities The more they expand in a city, this is an indication of the extent of development and progress achieved in that region and a sign of the state's concern for the welfare of the population. The need for green lands has arisen in the centers of cities, where the roads are crowded and the population density increases as land prices rise. The pressure increases on the percentage of urban land works and the surrounding areas, so that the uses of land with economic returns and rapid profit prevail over other uses, and the areas of open areas are gradually diminished and sometimes overlooked when updating the basic design of the city, And to identify the violations that affected the open areas and green lands that were designated as recreational areas for the population and the environmental effects that resulted from these abuses, where it is noted in the city of Samawah that the distribution of green lands varied, and did not meet the need of the population in most sectors of the city, and this means that planning for this use is Pre-studied in addition to that there are green lands that are neglected and subject to exploitation by multiple uses that have nothing to do with the uses of green lands. Therefore, it is necessary to re-create the neglected lands and serve the unserved areas.
