Paradox in the Nineties’ Iraqi PoetryA study of Iraqi Palm seriesProf. Abdulameer Matar Faily AlsaadiSet by: Sajjad Abdulhameed Adnan AlmosawiCollege of Education for HumanitiesKarbala UniversityAbstractThe differences between poetic voices shape the achievements as well as the standard which elicit a critical appreciation for a particular age of poetry. It has been granted that Iraqi poetry is especially known to carry the banner of modernity in all its aspects for so many generations. The nineties’ Iraqi poets, in particular, produced texts that reflect their exceptional visionary perception; this allows us to choose selections of their poetry to study the development of imagery. The study identifies paradox as an aesthetic technique with an argumentative force which could be semantically unique. The study examines five poetry collections published in “Iraqi Palm series” by five Iraqi poets from the nineties, they are as follows: (عمره ماء) by Aref Alsaadi, (محتشد بالوطن القليل) by Ajwad Mijbil, (تفاحة في يدي الثالثة) by Hussien Kasid, (قاب شفتين أو أشهى) by Mujahid Abulhail, (يعقوب الحزن الأخير) by Najah Al’ersan. This series is dedicated to publishing only the works of Iraqi creative writers, supervised by a group of specialists responsible for selecting the creative works based on specific standards. This series is worth examining as it embodies the creative standards which elicit critical appreciation. This study is divided into two sections: the first section focused on the paradox significance and importance, while the second section is dedicated to examining paradox in selections of the nineties’ Iraqi poetry. Finally the conclusion sums up the findings of the study.
