Relationship between achievement motivation, math anxiety and achievement

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the effect of achievement motivation and math anxiety on the achievement of students in the fifth grade in mathematics in Baghdad governorate. To achieve the objectives of the study, a random sample of 500 students was selected from the study community consisting of all fifth grade students in government schools and schools In the province of Baghdad for the academic year (2017/2016), the number of (23741) students, and has been used measurements prepared in advance by other researchers namely: a measure of motivation achievement, and a measure of concern, and was verified the validity of its construction and stability by experimenting on a sample Of (40) students. The study tools were applied in the second semester of the academic year 2016/2017. The students' grades were adopted according to the school records. The simple regression analysis was used to test hypotheses. The results of the study showed that there is a relationship between achievement motivation, math anxiety and achievement.
