Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the competence and motivation and their relationship to the academic achievement in the subject of microbiology among the students of the Department of Life Sciences in the College of Education for Pure Sciences / University of DiyalaThe two researchers adopted the preparation of two scales (two questionnaires), one to measure efficiency and its relationship to academic achievement in microbiology among students of the Department of Life Sciences, and the second to measure motivation and its relationship to academic achievement in the subject of microbiology among students of the Department of Life Sciences. The number of paragraphs of the efficiency scale (34) and the number of motivation scale (30) paragraphs. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers applied the efficiency and motivation measures to the research sample (students) in the first semester of the academic year (2019/2020). The researchers formulated the following hypotheses:1.There is no correlation of statistical significance at the level of significance (05.0) between the average answers of the research sample of the students (students) on the scale of competence and the average performance in academic achievement in microbiology.2.There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (05.0) between the average answers of the research sample of (students) on the scale of efficiency attributed to the gender variable (students, students).3.There is no correlation of statistical significance at the level of significance (05.0) between the average of the respondents of the research sample (students) on the motivation scale and their average performance in the academic achievement in microbiology.4.There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (05.0) between the average of the research sample answers (students) on the motivation scale attributed to the gender variable (students, students). The research sample consisted of (85) male and female students (35) and (50) female students in the third phase of the Department of Life Sciences in the College of Education for Pure Sciences / Diyala University. The researchers used the following statistical methods:1.Pearson Corrlation Coeficient.2.Alpha Kronbachs coefficient (Alpha Kronbachs) to calculate the coefficient of stability of the scales (questionnaire) study.3.T test. For two independent samples to know the differences in the answers of the research sample of the (students) on the two study scales.4.Mean.5.Standard Deviation. After analyzing the results statistically, it showed that there is a correlation between efficiency and motivation and their relation to academic achievement in microbiology among the students of life sciences department.
