The Impact of Hands and Minds Strategy in Acquiring Islamic Concepts of Fifth Scientific Students and Developing Their Moral Manners

Abstract

The present research aims at investigating the impact of hands and minds strategy in acquiring Islamic concepts of fifth scientific students and developing their moral manner. The sample consisted of (65) students who were intentionally selected from Ibn Khaldoun Preparatory School for Boys in the center of Kirkuk Governorate. This sample was randomly divided into two groups, one of which included 32 students who studied the subject Quran and Islamic education strategy of hands and minds, and another officer formed of (33) students, studied the same subjects in the traditional way. The researchers prepared model teaching plans for both groups. The first research tool was the test of the acquisition of Islamic concepts, consisting of (39) multiple choice types, verifying its validity and stability. The researchers also prepared a measure of ethical values. The measure may be in its final form from five fields and it contains 60 points and verifies its validity and stability. Then, the researchers began applying the experiment on 24/10/2018 and the experiment continued until 10/1/2019. After the experiment was applied, the researchers applied the research tools (the test of the acquisition of post-concepts and the dimensional ethical measure) to the two research groups. After collecting the results, Using the appropriate statistical means which showed the following results: - The experimental group outweighs the control group in testing the acquisition of Islamic concepts and the measure of ethical values. In light of the results of the research, the researchers recommended a number of recommendations, including: Emphasizing the need to use (the strategy of hands and minds) in teaching the Koran and Islamic education for secondary students in general, because of its great benefits, such as the development of moral values and help students to acquire Islamic concepts.
