Cognitive bias and its relationship to the motivation to learn among university students

Abstract

The current research aims to know the relationship between cognitive bias and motivation for learning among university students and to achieve the goal of the research requires the use of two tools for measurement, namely the cognitive bias scale and the motivation scale for learning, the cognitive bias scale in its initial form contains (42) item, two item of the scale were deleted because they were not appropriate for the measured property to become the scale In its final form, it consists of (40) item distributed on (7) fields and in front of each paragraph (5) alternatives to the answer, then the researchers built the motivation scale for learning consisting of (33) paragraphs distributed on (4) dimensions and in front of each paragraph (5) alternatives to answer The researchers investigated the statistical analysis of paragraphs For two scales as well as the psychometric properties of them, and to reach the results of the research, the two researchers applied the basic research sample of (400) students from Al-Mustansiriya University who were chosen from the research community by the random class method and from scientific and human specializations, and for statistical data processing, the researchers used a set of appropriate statistical means Then the two researchers reached the following results.1.University students are not cognitive biases. 2.The cognitive bias among university students differs according to gender and academic specialization. 3.University students are motivated to learn.4.The motivation for learning among university students differs according to gender and academic specialization.5.There is an inverse relationship between the cognitive bias and the motivation to learn. Then the researchers developed a set of conclusions, recommendations and suggestion
