Joshua and the Holy Land in Judaism and Islam A comparative study

Abstract

Joshua is a Hebrew name meaning "Jehovah of Salvation", the same name as "Jesus" in Greek, and Moses (peace be upon him) had changed it from "Hosea" to Joshua, a disciple of Moses and his servant and was a distinguished military leader as he proved his military superiority in a number of military battles with his enemies, after the death of Moses he took the leadership of Israelis and entered the Holy Land, the land of "Palestine" after defeating his enemies, Jews and Muslims believe that the sun ceased to fall until Joshua ends the war of his enemies.Jews and Muslims agree that Joshua is one of the prophets of God , and there is a chapter in the Torah named "Joshua", but the verses of the Quran did not mention his name explicitly but it was mentioned in the Sunnah and the sun stopped for him. The Jews believe that they have a historical right to take possession of the Holy Land, and there are scripts in Torah stipulating Obedience to the Lord for this possession, but the jaws did not adhere to this obedience by violating their prophets and therefore the promise to possess the holy land is invalidated because they breached obedience to lord .
