A macroscopical study on female genital system of local Iraqi cows

Abstract

The genital organs of 607 Iraqi local breed cows. Collected from Mosul abattoir, were examined for anatomical and pathological patterns. The mean size and weight of the right ovaries were high as compared to left ovaries irrespective of pregnant or no pregnant genitalia. The activity of right ovaries was more than left ovaries. The mean diameter and weight of the corpus luteum in right ovary was similar to that in left ovary. Pregnant genitalia 71 showed 1.48% abnormalities as compared to 14.33% abnormalities of no pregnant cases, the main type of abnormalities included ovarobursa adhesion 33.33%.
