Aesthetics of Nostalgia in Contemporary African Painting

Abstract

This research deals with (Aesthetics of Nostalgia in Contemporary African Painting) by analyzing and investigating the levels of influence and effectiveness of the concept of Nostalgia and its various cognitive connotations on the plastic contexts in the African continent. The present study represents a study in contemporary African art and investigating the effects of the past in its aesthetic formulation, the concept of Nostalgia in the African artist represented an outlet and a medium of knowledge to present the concepts related to the culture of African individuals and societies, then theses worthy of reflection, So highlighting them is a cultural embodiment, and an attempt to change the global meta-view of the arts of this continent with a glorious history and cultural heritage extending through the ages. The research included four chapters containing the first one )Methodological framework) on the problem of research which focused on the following question: What are the aesthetics of nostalgia in contemporary African art? The importance of research has been identified as contributing to the support of technical academic studies with a scientific content related to the concept of nostalgia in plastic art as a cultural and aesthetic advantage, the goal of the research was to reveal the aesthetics of nostalgia in contemporary African painting, And follow up the most important artistic and aesthetic issues while the limits of substantive research were limited to artistic productions) Paintings) of the African artist which has been carried out inside and outside the African continent between(1960-1018) and then the most important terms were defined in the context of the research, the second chapter (theoretical framework and previous studies) came in three section, the first dealt with the concept of nostalgia in heritage, the second topic evolution of the concept of nostalgia psychologically and socially, the third topic deals with the aesthetics of African art,the third chapter came (research procedures)representing the research community and its sample and research tool and analysis of samples.The research ends with the fourth chapter, which deals with the research findings, conclusions, recommendations and suggestions:1.The present study has shown that nostalgia is represented in contemporary African painting in various forms (real nostalgia, individual nostalgia, personal nostalgia, collective nostalgia, simulated nostalgia, restorative nostalgia, nostalgic nostalgia and stressful nostalgia), all of which represent reactions and self-effects An individual and a society rooted in the African cultural system and its aesthetic output.2.The nostalgia in the art of contemporary African painting was a reflection of the artist's feelings of alienation from the motherland. Thus, the artistic and aesthetic formulations of the African painting were influenced by the concept of nostalgia and its various projections, which represented a motivating variable for various forms of aesthetic expression.
