POLYMORPHISM OF LACTOFERRIN GENE AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO SOM PRODUCTIVE TRAITS IN TWO STRAINS OF GOATS

Abstract

This study was conducted out at the Ruminants Researches Station (20 km west of Baghdad) affiliated to the Directorate for Agricultural Researches / Ministry of Agriculture, as well as Bridge Musayyib Laboratory affiliated to Bioneer company Baghdad , in a sample of local black goats and cypriot goats order to determind Lactoferrin gene polymorphism exon4by using PCR-RFLP technique and NlaIII Restriction enzyme to determine the distribution of genotypes and alleles And their association with productive performance of the goats and their kids . The study revealed the presence of SNP in exon4 and three Genotype of lactoferrin gene The distribution percentage of genotypes of lactoferrin gene in goats sample study were 62 , 30 and 8 % for TT, TC and CC genotypes respectively with highly significant effect P<0.01. Results indicated that there were no significant differences for damensions and for all dams and progeny under study and there were no significant effect for birth and weaning weights and for body gain for all genotypes respectively .we can deduce from the study the possibility of adopting the lactoferrin gene in developing genetic imporovment strategies for goats to disrupt the economic return from breeding projects by electing and striking genotypes that have the best productive performance.
