The Emergence of Religious Extremism in Political Thought and Its Impact on the National Unity in Iraq After the rise of ISIS

Abstract

This Article deals with the emergence of religious extremism in political thought and its impact on national unity in Iraq, and from here it became clear that the phenomenon of religious extremism is not a contemporary phenomenon or its offspring. Rather, extremism has existed and existed since the beginnings of the emergence of Islamic thought. This paper also addressed the most prominent reasons for the emergence of religious extremism in political thought. The contemporary Arab and its roots, including political, economic and religious reasons, and the impact of extremism on national unity in Iraq, especially after the stage of the rise of ISIS, which effectively affected national unity and societal cohesion in Iraq, but not as some think, as well as criticizing this extremism and the necessary steps that must be taken in order to build national unity and dry up the sources of this extremism.
