Adaptive Portable Document Format (PDF) File Headers for Indexing Electronic Library

Abstract

Recently, different types of Portable Document Format (PDF) documents, such as e-books, papers, and journals are essentially needed to be utilized, stored, and retrieved when working with electronic library. In this paper, a flexible and simple technique is presented and thoroughly discussed for automatically arranging PDF files. The proposed system is mainly depending on the structure of the PDF file and its header information to guide the process of inserting important classification meta data in specific region of the header region. The proposed PDF format provides electronic library systems with the ability to arrange and configure enormous number of PDF files in a rapid time. Thus, the new format can easily be used in many applications due to its ability to offer simple and flexible technique.
