The Spatial Suitability of Natural Factors Affecting Agricultural Land Uses in the Area of Bashiqa

Abstract

Natural factors are considered one of the most important controls that control and affect the production of agricultural crops in any region, and through the current research, the researcher addressed the topic of natural factors affecting the production of agricultural crops in the Bashiqa area of the Mosul district of Nineveh Governorate. By determining the spatial changes of agricultural land uses. In addition, building a geographic database (Geo-database), that includes data on the study area phenomenon (geological structure, regression, soil classification and productivity) in addition to agricultural crops in the form of layers. So that each layer includes a specific topic and study of climate elements. Then building a model for spatial suitability and the production of agricultural crops for the purpose of knowing and determining the best spatially appropriate places. Using the spatial analysis tools for the data in Arc-GIS V10.4.2 to be of proven benefit as they carry new information extracted from spatial analysis. Then the process of matching the maps of the agricultural crops with the map of the spatial fitness that produced is completed. Where the study showed that there is a match between the best places for cultivating agricultural crops with the amount of agricultural crops actually cultivated in the study area.
