The Identity of Contemporary Islam in the Writings of American Thinkers - John L. Esposito As A Model

Abstract

John. L. Esposito is one of the few contemporary American thinkers who work to find ways of peaceful dialogue between Islam and the West, and he is one of the defenders of the truth of the Islamic religion in America, trying his best to reveal the truth about the danger of Islam and the threat of Islam to the West and America, calling in his writings to correct the misconception about Islam and Muslims in the West And America, stressing the need to distinguish between the reality of Islam and the emerging forms of extremism and fundamentalist movements that aim to distort the true image of the Islamic religion, in order to enter many strange concepts among American thinkers, such as violence, terrorism and murder, and as a result of the misunderstanding in linking the truth of Islam with the extremist political movements that have recently emerged . Esposito aims to stand against the distortion of the truth of the Islamic religion, and calls for a civilized dialogue between Islam and the West. The research tries to focus on Esposito's most important views on Islam and Muslims in the contemporary vision.
