Youth's Role in Voluntary Work and Values of Social Solidarity

Abstract

The human being, by the nature of their formation, has physical and psychological needs that they tries hard to satisfy. The capabilities of the society members vary in regard of satisfying those needs. Therefore, the Islamic Sharia urges the necessity of achieving coherence and cohesion among the members of society in order to achieve social solidarity. Every person has a personal desire for free giving. Everyone has the ability to make positive contributions such as raising and taking care for groups of orphans and the deprived ones.The research aims to shed light on the role of youth in voluntary work since they are the pillar of the development process and the economic strength of society in consolidating the values of social solidarity. The importance of the research is represented by highlighting the role of Husseini rituals, especially the Arbaeen pilgrimage, in embodying the most wonderful types of voluntary work, which annually produce wonderful images of harmony, and social solidarity whose youth constitute their main pillar. The research endeavors to develop several proposals that contribute to support the role of youth in ritual commemoration through voluntary works and contribute to achieve social solidarity for poor groups in society.
