Value Stream Maps (VSM) An approach to reduce the project completion period: A case study in the Nineveh Roads and Bridges Directorate

Abstract

The research seeks to address one of the tools that help diagnose the waste found in the implementation and control aspects of projects and diagnose basic and support activities that add value to the project. And the strategy that was subjected to destruction and devastation during the operations of the liberation of Nineveh Governorate, and has a significant impact on the flow of traffic in the city, as a value flow map was drawn based on actual data from the Ashur Construction Contracting Company executing the project, in addition to a questionnaire distributed to an intentional sample (25) persons represented The resident engineer department of the project, in addition to the directors of the divisions of the Directorate of Roads and Bridges in Nineveh, and the statistical program (SPSS.V26) was used to conduct descriptive analysis and T-test, and many conclusions were reached, most notably the use of value flow maps reduces the project completion period by diagnosing downtime and work to find appropriate solutions to them, in addition to the research coming out with a set of proposals, the most prominent of which is the need to deal with reliable suppliers who facilitate the provision of materials and requirements Arrived on time and within the required specifications to avoid downtime and completion within the specified period.
