Abstract
The study aims to find out the effectiveness of the syntactic strategy in increasing students’ achievement in grammar and developing convergent and divergent thinking skills among students in 7th grade in Abu Dhabi. This study targeted (52) students in the 7th grade at Al Asayel school in Abu Dhabi. The target group was selected randomly and divided into control and experimental group in which each group included 26 students. The experimental group (A) was taught by the synthetics strategy, while the control group (B) was taught traditionally. The study followed the semi-experimental design, and to achieve the goals, the researcher prepared the required tools: grammar exam, convergent thinking test, and divergent thinking test. The tools were checked in terms of reliability and validity. The study results showed a statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in grammatical achievement between the control and experimental groups in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed a statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) in convergent and divergent thinking skills in favor of the experimental group who taught by the synthetics strategy.
