The Impact of Human Rights Agreements on Peace-building

Abstract

The process of peace-building, in societies that have suffered from conflict, is an important issue that calls for selecting the appropriate foundations for such building, as the basis is centered around human rights and freedoms. Not only that, but also most human rights conventions have come up with the concepts of establishing peace and replacing violence and injustice with freedom, justice and the rule of law. Peace-building was the result of international variables and the necessity for international human rights conventions to be enforced in the national legislation of states, in order to move peace-building process to the stage of time hierarchy, whether with regard to the time range or the objective one, to reach international measures pertinent to ensure respect for human rights, build and spread a culture of peace and strengthen relations between the conflicting parties with the aim of not relapsing into conflict again
