The extent to which convergent thinking skills are included in the content of history books for the preparatory stage

Abstract

The current research aimed to analyze the content of history books according to the convergent thinking skills of the preparatory stage. The research problem was identified in the following questions:1- What are the convergent thinking skills that should be included in the content of history books for the preparatory stage? And what is its percentage?2-What are the convergent thinking skills included in the content of history books for the preparatory stage? And what is its percentage?The research community was determined by history books for the preparatory stage (fourth preparatory (literary) - fifth (literary) sixth (literary)) for the academic year (2020-2021) and approved in the Republic of Iraq, and the research sample included all the content of books except for calendars at the end of each unit and indexes.In order to verify the inclusion of convergent thinking skills in the content of history books, the researcher prepared a tool to analyze the content of these books, represented by the list of analysis that includes convergent thinking skills, consisting of (15) skills indicated by the main indicators. The search results showed:-• The history book for the literary fifth grade is the most concerned with convergent thinking skills, as it recorded (189) recurrences at a rate of (26%) and ranked first among the three books, then it was followed by the literary sixth book with a rate of (21.3%), then it was followed by the fifth literary book with a rate of (19). %).• The skill of the convergent production of symbols' implications ranked first among the rest of the convergent thinking skills in the history books combined, while the skill of affinity production of the relationships between forms ranked ninth and last.
