Analysis of the content of the third -grade Al -Viziar book according to the skills of generative thinking

Abstract

The current research aims to identify : The extent to which the content of the physics book for the third grade includes an average for generative thinking skillsIn order to achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher used the descriptive analytical method, as shown in the following steps: A - The researchers prepared a standard for generative thinking skills by reviewing the literature, research and previous studies related to generative thinking skills. Thus, the criterion in its final form consists of eight skills, which are (Fluency, Flexibility, Expansion, Prediction, Representation, Inference, Hypotheses, Recognizing Errors and Fallacies) and each skill consists of (7) indicators, thus the criterion consists of (56) indicators. B - The researchers analyzed the content of the physics book for the third grade, the average course for the academic year (2021-2022) in light of the standard, as the number of analyzed pages reached (176) pages, and the researcher relied on the idea (explicit and implicit) as a unit for recording, a paragraph, a unit for context and repetition, and a unit for counting. The researcher calculated the validity and reliability in agreement with external analysts and with the researcher himself.. The results show that the content of the physics subject in the physics book for the third intermediate grade was concerned with including the skill of "expansion, prediction, representation, inference" and did not care about the skill of "fluency, flexibility, hypothesis setting and recognizing errors". And the percentage of inclusion for the last skills was weak in some of the sub-indicators and very weak or absent in most of the sub-indicators of these skills, and this indicates a lack of balance in including generative thinking skills in the physics content of the thrid intermediate book, as the results showed that there is a clear focus on the skills of without the other. In light of the research results, the researcher came up with a set of recommendations, including:1- Physics books for the intermediate stage include topics that include teaching students the skills of generative thinking.2- Working on holding training courses for physics teachers regarding strategies that develop generative thinking skills and using them to highlight the reciprocal relationship between employing these skills and solving the problems they face. The researcher suggested the following:1- Conducting studies to analyze the content of science books in the primary stage and physics books for the preparatory stage according to the skills of generative thinking.2- Conducting a comparative study of physics books taught in the Republic of Iraq and physics books to be taught in Arab countries in the light of generative thinking skills
