The impact of a rehabilitation program on working muscle strength and the range of motion in wrestlers suffering from cervical disc herniation.

Abstract

After an injury, sports rehabilitation is seen as a critical concern for the player. Returning the athlete prior completing the rehabilitation process for the damaged portion might result in the injury recurring or aggravating in the future. The issue stems from the high number of cervical injuries suffered by wrestlers, including herniated discs, and the fact that most of the injured turn to medical drugs and complete rest following a doctor's prescription, as well as the lack of the use of sports rehabilitation after injury. Hence the importance of a research in the development of a rehabilitation program for wrestlers with cervical disc herniation of the middle degree, as well as the impact of this program on the strength of the working muscles and the range of motion of the neck. Tthe experimental method with a single group design with a pretests and posttests is used. The research sample consists of (5) wrestlers with herniated discs of the middle degree, and previous tests were carried out at the Najma Center for Rehabilitation and Fitness. Afterwards, each injured person was given a rehabilitation regimen. The post-test was completed following the completion of the implementation of the program for a period of (10) weeks at a rate of (3) units per week.
