Abstract

The Copts are considered the original inhabitants of Egypt, who had their origins, customs, and traditions before the days of the Islamic conquest of this country. Muslim leaders dealt with them according to the environment in which they lived and their position on the Islamic religion with regard to matters of tribute and providing them with protection.
