ROLE OF SOME PATHOGENIC BACTERIA IN URINARY TRACT INFECTION IN MOSUL CITY

Abstract

A study has been done to 236 random cases with urinary tract infection (UTI) in both sex in Ibn-Alatheer and Al-Zahrawy hospitals in Mosul during 2004 . 191(72%) pathogenic bacteria , involved E. coli , staphylococcus aureus Klebsilla spp. , Streptococcus spp. , Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp. was isolate the percentage of isolated E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus was (48.2%) and (32%) respectively, so it was the major percentage of isolated bacteria. This study indicates that the females with UTI represents (44.8%) while in males (27.8%) which was statistically highly significant (p<0.001). The rate of UTI in young age groups was less than the other groups. Also, the study found that the effect of Ceftriaxone antibiotic on gram-negative bacteria was (5.7%) while gram positive bacteria was absolute sensitive against vancomycin.
