NONCLASSICAL EFFECTS IN THE CORREL ATIONS OF THREE LIGHT B

Abstract

Expressions are derived for the intensity correlations or degree of second-order coherence within and between three light beams of different frequency generated by cascade emission from four-level atoms. The analysis illustrates a kind of nonclassical behavior complementary to that studied in previous works on resonance fluorescence. The three emitted beams individually show photon antibunching and the correlation between the beams shows the complementary kind of non-classical effect. The system considered is of a kind that is commonly used in four-level laser techniques.
