The Effect Of Using A Proposed Assisting Motor Correlation Exercises On Learning And Acquiring Coordination for Freestyle Swimming

Abstract

The Effect Of Using A Proposed AssistingMotor Correlation Exercises On LearningAnd Acquiring Coordination for FreestyleSwimmingBy: Instructor Dr. Mustafa Selah Al Deen AzzizThe aim of the research is to find special exercises that would assists learning motor coordination in freestyle swimming. In addition to that, it aims at identifying the effects of using these exercises on learning freestyle swimming skills and finding if there are significant differences among the members of the experimental group that used these exercises and the controlling group that did not use them. The researcher used the experimental method. He hypothesized that there is an effect after using the proposed assisting exercises on learning and acquiring motor coordination in performing freestyle swimming skills. There are also significant statistical differences between the results of the two groups. The researcher used many tests that he had already used in his master thesis to find the results as well as to evaluate the motor coordination of freestyle swimming. The subjects were (30) second year college of physical education students. They were divided into two equal groups; the controlling group and the experimental group. The researcher concluded that motor correlation can be developed using the proposed assisting exercises that also develop motor coordination in general. He also concluded that these exercises have a positive effect on learning and acquiring special motor coordination related to freestyle skills and movements. Finally, the researcher recommended including these exercises during teaching swimming for beginners and focusing on them during warm-up as well as during the main preparation phase of the teaching session. He also recommended finding other assisting exercises that can be performed on land and in water and to teste their effects on learning and acquiring special motor coordination in all four swimming strokes.
