A Performance Study of Wireless Broadband Access (WiMAX)

Abstract

WiMAX (worldwide interoperability for microwaveaccess) is one of the wireless broadband access technologies whichsupplies broadband services to clients, but it surpasses othertechnologies by its coverage area, where one base station cancover a small city. In this paper, WiMAX technology is studied byexploring its basic concepts, applications, and advantages /disadvantages. Also a MATLAB simulator is used to verify theoperation of the WiMAX system under various channelimpairments and for variety of modulation schemes. From thesimulation results, we found that WiMAX system works well inboth AWGN and multipath fading channels, but under certainconstraints that are addressed in this paper.
