Effect of soil texture and salinity of irrigation water for growth and active ingredients of the henna plant Lawsoina inermis L

Abstract

This present study was carried out in the lath house belong to the Department of Horticulture- college of Agriculture university of Basrah during the period from march 1th to July th 2010 to investigate the effect of two kinds of soil texture and ( sandyloam) and treatment with four concentration of irrigation water salinity (0,2,4,6) ds m-1for Lawsoina inermis L .Result showed that the soil ( sandyloam)caused significant increase in the all characteristics studied –Also the irrigation water salinity of 0dsm-1 caused significant increase in all characteristics studied .However gave high level of lawsone percentage 1.65% for 0dsm-1 compared with the reduce level 0.56% for treated 6dsm-1 .The interaction between the two kinds of soil and irrigation water salinity showed that (sandyloam) with 0 dsm-1 gave significant increase in all characteristics studied.
