Abstract

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study is to estimate the role of interleukin-8 in breast cancer Iraqiwomen and to assess the correlation between the serum levels of IL-8 with theprogression of disease stage. Fifty patients with proved diagnosis of breast cancer byclinical examinations presented to the Al alwyah hospital for gynecological diseasesand obstetrics (Breast cancer early detection clinic) in Baghdad. All were femalesand didn’t have received any chemo/or radiological treatment .Also, 20 samples ofapparently healthy women were involved as a control. The blood samples (5ml)were drown from all of the studied cases in order to be used for measuring theirserum level of IL-8 by using Enzyme–Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Theresults investigated that Serum IL-8 level were increased with high significant inbreast cancer patients and showed significant correlation in early disease stagescompared to control group with the highest level in stage I group of patients. As aconclusion, serum level of IL-8 is highly correlated with breast cancer and mighthave detecting and diagnostic usefulness
