Effect of treatment of Kinetin to Reduce the Salinity Damage by Drainage Water Irrigation on the Growth, and Nitrate Accumulation in the Leaves of Spinach, Spenacia oleracea L.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted on a private farm at Babylon Governorate on fifteen of October 2010 until 15- Feb- 2011 & fifteen of October 2011 until 15- Feb- 2012 as two seasons respectively , to study effect of treatment of Kinetin with three concentrations (0.00, 20, 40 mg/liter) and the quality of irrigation water as well as the interaction between them. Spinach seeds soaked in the Kinetin concentrations for three hours& sowed, the experiment included about 9 treatments with three replications. Results showed that the Kinetin increased the plant tolerance of salt water stress significantly in the average of leaf area, total chlorophyll in the leaves, nitrate content of leaves, nitrate reductase of leaves, praline content & total amino acids of leaves. The results showed that reduction in all of studied parameters whenever increased the salinity of irrigation water.
