Effect of different levels of Vitamin E supplementation on some physiological characters of quail (Coturnix coturnix) reared under high environmental temperature

Abstract

The current study was conducted on quails (6 weeks old) , to evaluate the effect of vitamin E supplementation on some physiological and reproductive parameter , birds were divided into 4 groups (60 birds each , 3 replicates : 20 birds each) , the treated for 8 weeks ,as follows :1st group (control) : reared on standard ration and Tap water .2nd group : reared on standard ration and water supplemented with Vit. E (300 mg/liter) .3rd group : reared on standard ration and water supplemented with Vit. E (450 mg/liter) .4th group : reared on standard ration and water supplemented with Vit . E (600mg/liter) . Results revealed that 3rd treatment (Vit .E : 450 mg / Liter) causes a significant (P≤ 0.05) decrease in serum albumin , weight of reproductive system , ovary and improved most the egg quality characters . Also , 2nd and 4th treatments (vit . E 300 mg/ L and 600 mg / L respectively) improved Red Blood Cell (T.RBC count), Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV) , and Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH) . and 3rd and 4th treatments causes a significant increase (P≤ 0.05) in carcass weight and dressing percentage . In , general , Vit . E supplementation improve some of the physiological and reproductive characters and egg quality of quail
