Effect of Spray by Chelated Iron in physical and Chemical Characteristics of Iraqi Banana Musa Paradisica L . Var Sapientum ( L . ) Oktze Cultivation South Iraq

Abstract

This study was conducted in Abu-Khaseb –basra Province season 2010 to study the effect of foliar fertilization by iron that spray by chelated iron in two concentrations (20 and 40 ppm) addition to control treatment (0 ppm) in some physical and chemical of banana fruit and chlorophyll in leaves the results showed the spray by chelated iron effected in physical characteristics expect fruit diameter which the fruit weight in spray by 40 ppm was 103.2 gm with increased percentage (4.87 %),while the length of fruit in same treatment was 16.4 cm with increased percentage (46.42%), also the two spray treatments affected in water content percentage which the water content percentage in 40 ppm treatment was 76.6% with significantly difference compared with other treatments and with increased percentage (8.03%),also starch percentage increased significantly in 40 ppm treatment it was 4.2% compared with other treatments with increased percentage (75%), while the spray by chelated iron did not affected in TSS, also the results showed the chlorophyll in banana leaves increased significantly in 40 ppm treatments it was 18.24 mg.100 gm-1 with increased percentage (73.05%).
