Crossing Between Different Number Of Maize Inbreds And Evalaution Synthetic Variety Under Effect Of Level Population

Abstract

In spring and autumn seasons 2007 sixteen zea mays inbreds were used in polycross program to develop synthetic varieties different in number of parental inbred. During the autumn season 2008 and 2009 the objectives of this study were to determine the influence of three plant population (40816,56142and95238) plant/ha for the six synthetic varieties with check cultivar R-106 were introduce in a factorial trial with RBCD design with three replication. Syn16 with highest population 95238plant/ha gave the highest mean of total grain yield (9.39)ton/ha. however, 16 inbred have approved to gave genetic diversity and synthetic variety with good combining ability by this method
