PUBLIC AGRICULTURE INVESTMENT IN IRAQ AND ITS FUTURE DIRECTIONS

Abstract

Iraqi agriculture policy has given an interest for development in order to raise the agricultural sector forward to increase the production and improve it. There was an important role of the agriculture investments in implanting these policies. These policies included an, annual allocation for agricultural sector, of 35 billion ID in 2005, increased to 110 billion ID in 2009, with growth ratio of 314%.Iraqi government role was positive in supporting these investments, and adopting agriculture initiative since 2008 with allocated about 377 billion ID. Public directions for Iraqi agriculture investments concentrate on plants, livestock's, machineries and irrigation projects as well as loans. All these investments to support the production and infrastructure have contributed. Relatively in supporting the agricultural production as well as the infrasture. It should be concentrated in the future on the actual agricultural production.
